BIH constructs and manages a range of housing accommodation providing housing for families, single people, the elderly and various models of supported housing. Sheltered housing enables older people to live independently in self-contained accommodation with the benefit of a safe and homely environment with schemes located throughout Northern Ireland .

BIH Housing Association provides a range of quality accommodation to meet the needs of elderly people. The Association offers two main types of accommodation designed for people who are aged 55 and over.

Category 1 housing is self-contained accommodation with a 24 hour link to Telecare which provides support in case of an accident or emergency. There is additional support provided by the Association’s Community Support Officers who call regularly with residents.

Category 2 housing is self-contained accommodation with associated communal facilities which include residents’ lounge and kitchen, assisted bathroom, hobbies room, hairdressing room and laundry area. There is a Scheme Co-ordinator in site between 8.30am and 5.00pm and Telecare cover evenings and weekends.
