A celebration of older people who have and
continue to shape our world.

On Friday 6th June 2008 at the Hilton Hotel, Belfast, Age Concern Northern Ireland will celebrate the first year of the Inspirational Older People Awards in association with Tyrone Crystal. This will be a very special event which recognises the achievements of older people who have and continue to shape our world.

We want you to get involved by nominating inspiring older people from Northern Ireland who have shown their dedication to improving our society and helping others.

The awards are open to anyone wishing to nominate a person aged 65 and above from or living in Northern Ireland. Anyone can make a nomination and there is no limit to the number of nominations an individual can submit. There are 8 award categories to choose from, a panel of distinguished judges will select the winner of each award.

The awards are a unique opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of extraordinary older people while helping support the work of Age Concern Northern Ireland.

Awarded to: The most prestigious award of the event will be presented to an exceptional person who has encouraged and influenced many people and has made an outstanding contribution to our society.

Awarded to: This award will be given to an older person who has achieved educational success later in life.

Awarded to: This award will recognise the commitment of an older person who provides care and support to others in need.

Awarded to: This award will recognise the outstanding contribution of an older person to sport in Northern Ireland either as a participant or in a support role.

You can use the nomination form which can be returned by email or post

Alternatively, send us an email or a letter. Please state the name, address and contact telephone number of your inspirational older person, select the category in which you are making the nomination and include a brief description of why this person deserves the award.

Each submission should be specific to the category for which it is to be considered and make sure you clearly state the contribution made by the person you are nominating.

Nominations must be received by noon on Friday 25th April, 2008 to be considered for IOPA 2008. All nominations received after that date will be considered for IOPA 2009. The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
